Author Daniel Pink to speak on changing world of work

Best-selling author Daniel Pink will discuss “A Whole New Mind: Why Right-brainers Will Rule the Future” at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the Student Union Movie Theatre.

This free event is part of the Belk College of Business speaker series NEXT, which brings notable figures and thought leaders in business and leadership to Charlotte for programs focused on tomorrow’s ideas, today.

Chief speechwriter for Vice President Al Gore from 1995-97, Pink also served as an aide to U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich. His other works include “The Adventures of Johnny Bunko: The Last Career Guide You’ll Ever Need,” the first American business book in the Japanese comic format manga, and “Free Agent Nation: The Future of Working for Yourself.”

Pink received a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and a law degree from Yale University.

Seating for Pink’s on-campus appearance is limited; ticket vouchers are required and are available online.  A UNC Charlotte “800” ID number is required for registration.

Pink also will speak at a public event at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the Booth Playhouse. Tickets for this appearance are $40 and include a networking reception with a cash bar and light refreshments from 6:15 to 7 p.m. This event is cosponsored by the Arts & Science Council.
